Developing global mindsets, especially in young people, is at the core of what Opportunity Education does. We do this because we think it’s not just important, it’s essential to the future well being or our children, and to the competitiveness or our society.
What is a ‘global mindset’? We would define a global mindset as one that:
- Understands the links between our own lives, and those of people from across the globe
- Gains an awareness of the economic, social, political forces that shape life
- Has an openness to and awareness to diversity across cultures and markets
- Builds a propensity and ability to see common patterns across countries and markets
The twin forces of ideological change and technology revolution are making globalisation one of the most important issues facing us today. As such, cultivating a global mindset is a prerequisite to becoming a global citizen.
